Travis Vlantes is in his first year as the Director of Applied Sports Science at the University of Texas. Travis comes to Austin after three years at the University of Wyoming as an assistant sports performance coach. While at Wyoming, he worked with several Olympic sports teams implementing athlete monitoring and serving as the internship coordinator.
Prior to Wyoming, Travis was an assistant strength & conditioning coach at West Texas A&M for two years while teaching undergraduate classes in kinesiology and interdisciplinary studies. Travis holds a master’s degree in exercise science from West Texas A&M and is certified through the National Strength & Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, as well as a Level 1 sports performance coach through USA Weightlifting.
A 2010 graduate of Wartburg College, Travis was a 4 year member of the Knight’s football team and completed sports performance internships with the University of Northern Iowa and the University of Iowa, working with multiple sports. Travis and his wife Chantel reside in Manor, Texas.
